POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintains and enhances the organization's property and patient and staff well-being by cleaning and maintaining all areas of the interior and exterior of the building. Work closely with building facilities to ensure building safety, compliance, and all applicable maintenance standards for property and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Ensures contracted janitorial service sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing daily in the Denver Indian Health and Family Service, Inc. clinic.
2. Provides a weekly report to the janitorial contractor of any deficiencies in service.
3. Weekly or monthly duties include using ladders to dust and wash walls, cleans ceilings, and dusts light fixtures. Washes windows and doors. Deep clean selected areas of the building on a weekly/monthly/annual rotation.
4. Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas. May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
5. Repairs property if it is salvageable.
6. Responsible for wiping down surfaces, including door handles throughout the day, and logging it.
7. Addresses any concerns of janitorial services to ownership.
8. Manage and coordinate building compliance, code, and OSHA standards.
9. Prepares workstations for new employees, including moving of furniture if necessary.
10. Maintains the order and inventory of offsite storage unit.
9. Provides handyman duties such as hanging artwork, organizing storerooms, etc.
10. Other duties as needed for building maintenance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Building maintenance performs their work in a healthcare setting so they may come into contact with patients with contagious illnesses.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires the following qualifications to perform the above duties and carry out the above responsibilities:
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Has demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines.
3. Has demonstrated the ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a timely manner.
4. Has the ability to work in a team environment, both in leadership and peer relationships.
5. Can capably operate a variety of building maintenance, yard, and office equipment, such as a computer, photocopier, scanner, printer, postage meter, etc.
6. Can capably use Microsoft Word or other word processing programs and can be trained to competently use different software programs, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
7. Has the ability to move 10-50 lb. Items, walk, sit, stand, bend, lift, and move large items and handle stress.
8. Has the ability to travel locally, run errands or order and process supplies, and purchase requests as needed.
9. Uses “Sacred Hospitality” in serving patients and peers.
10. Can successfully pass a criminal background check, OIG check, and a pre-employment UA/BA
