Position: Housekeeping Manager
SUMMARY:
The Housekeeping Manager, manages the daily operation of the housekeeping department while supporting the Director of Housekeeping and senior management team with achieving the company’s goals and initiatives. Follows all appropriate policies and procedures while striving to improve and comply with Hilton’s Brand Standards of products and services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct daily briefings and staff inspections
- Review and assign Supervisor’s, Housemen, Coordinators and Room Attendants daily tasks
- Review and approve resort gratuity assignments
- Ensure that rooms are cleaned and made to standard
- Expedite routine inventory (as needed daily or weekly)
- Order supplies and room amenities
- Ensure that extended guest areas (hallways, stairwells, stair cases) are clean and maintained daily
- Inspect rooms as needed and ensure that Supervisors complete inspection quotas
- Report hotel deficiencies and follow up to completion
- Produce and publish department schedules
- Schedule and expedite rooms within preventative maintenance process
- Coach and counsel team members according to the company’s policy and procedures
- Liaise with other departments to resolve internal and external issues
- Produce monthly reports
- Prepare and conduct subordinate evaluations
- Other duties as assigned by management
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Long working hours may be required at times. May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
- Medium work - Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant chemicals.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical skills to prepare and analyze moderately complex calculations for financial reporting.
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to supervise a team consisting of a large number of people.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Must attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing name tags.
- Comply with Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant chemicals.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
WORK EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 2 years of supervisor/management experience in a hotel/housekeeping preferred
- Four year degree preferred.
- Previous Management and Supervisory experience required.
- Must be proficient with MS Word and MS Excel.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Prior experience with Hilton Hotels OnQ system preferred.
