Job Summary
Provides operational oversight and direction in the field to the work being performed by custodial staff. Reviews the quality of work and takes corrective actions where needed. Provides coaching and training to their assigned staff. Focuses on maintaining steady workflow and productivity of assigned staff and ensures that customer service as well as productivity standards are met. Resolves operational issues. Schedules work and assigns staff to various areas and/or buildings within assigned zone for optimum
efficiency and productivity. Provides assistance to other supervisors and zones as needed and coordinates work with other supervisor(s) in the same zone that are assigned at different shifts including the project supervisor. standards are met. - Provides operational day-to-day supervision out in the field for the Custodial Services unit at multiple campuses to maintain steady work workflow and productivity. Maintains constant communication with Senior Supervisor and Administrative staff by means of radio, cell phone, email, or face-to-face. Schedules work assignments. Ensures adequate staff coverage for the department's operations allowing for work requirements, priorities and unexpected requests and special work order accountability. Completes and turns in daily reports and inspections to immediate supervisor. Ensures staff follows all safety. Maintains regular contact with customers to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Inspects assigned buildings daily to ensure cleaning schedules and cleanliness levels are met. Performs follow-up inspections as needed to achieve quality work. Conducts analysis of methods and procedures used and ascertains standardization of work procedures. Ensures that each assigned employee has a valid and up-to-date written detailed cleaning routine and ensures the routine is correctly followed. Ensures that staff is capable of completing all tasks correctly using the correct cleaning procedures as well as the correct and proper use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment. Provides training and guidance to staff on a ongoing basis. Operates state vehicle/cart in the performance of these duties.
- Submits, verifies and tracks work orders and repair orders placed with Work Management Center for repairs or placed directly into Maximo software system. Completes/closes work orders in Maximo. Assists in implementing work measurement programs, quality assurance programs, and work sampling programs, and work sampling studies. Coordinates work with other supervisors between the various shifts. Assists in any custodial operations area as deemed necessary and as instructed.
- Assists with selection, orientation, appraisal, training, discipline, promotion, demotion and any other personnel-related issues of designated custodial staff in accordance with University policies.
- Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator. Participates in weekend rotation and may be required to cover important University events beyond regular hours and regular schedule.
- Performs general emergency duties connected to any and all aspects of related work such as but not limited to hurricane protection, water and/or fire damage and other types of emergencies requiring custodial assistance. Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
- Participates in on-call rotation list as it may be required to cover important university events and or emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and/or vocational/technical training. Valid Florida Driver's License - Class E
Departmental Requirements
- 3 years of custodial/maintenance experience.
- 6 months of supervisory/team lead experience.
- Ability to community with a diverse population.
- Ability to communicate faculty, administration, staff, students and visitors.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a supervisor or Team Leader.
