Job Summary
Operates with minimal supervision in the maintenance, sanitation, and repair of aquatic facilities and university buildings at both the Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC) and the Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC), taking ownership and leading decisions on aquatics specific tasks. Performs routine and maintenance duties in the inspection of aquatic facilities. Maintains a record of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment and places orders for parts and supplies.
- Performs highly skilled work in the area of maintenance, sanitation and repair of the aquatic facilities, Panther Hall Pool and University buildings at BBC and MMC, such as water filtration/backwash, chemicals, plumbing, operation/service pool heater. Minor electrical, repairs to the pools, repairs to aquatic equipment, pool furniture, installation and repair of walls, ceiling tiles, door, door frames, signage, lighting etc.
- Performs inspections of equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustment as necessary.
- Performs finished dry wall, painting, carpentry work, repairs, builds, and installs furniture, cabinets, wind screens and pressure cleaning etc.
- Operates with minimal supervision in the maintenance, sanitation, and repair of aquatic facilities at both MMC and BBC campuses, taking ownership and leading decisions on aquatics specific tasks.
- Assists the Assistant Director of Aquatics with training full-time and part-time lifeguards to maintain the integrity of water bodies and related equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.Follows operational procedures and safety guidelines.
- Secures tools, parts, and equipment. Maintains a record of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment and places orders for parts and supplies.
- Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
- Purchases maintenance materials for the Aquatic Center needs. Serves as a University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures.
- Ensures and follows operational procedures and safety guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for mechanical trades or a high school diploma and four (4) years of appropriate experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License - Class E
Desired Qualifications
- CPO (Certified Pool & Spa Operator) certification or ability to obtain one in the first 45 days.
- Experience maintaining and operating pumps, pipes, and sanitation preferred.
