As a Sanitation Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within our food manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment, surfaces, and production areas meet regulatory sanitation requirements, thereby contributing to the safety and quality of our food products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sanitation Procedures: Execute thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures according to company protocols and regulatory guidelines. This includes but is not limited to equipment disassembly, chemical cleaning, and sanitation of production areas.
- Inspection and Monitoring: Conduct routine inspections of equipment and facilities to identify sanitation issues or areas requiring maintenance. Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment inventory, and promptly report any deficiencies or replenishment needs.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and sanitation regulations, such as FDA, USDA, and HACCP standards. Keep abreast of updates to regulations and implement necessary changes to sanitation procedures accordingly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning schedules, inspection reports, and sanitation logs. Assist in the preparation of documentation for regulatory inspections and audits.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with production and quality assurance teams to coordinate sanitation activities with production schedules. Communicate effectively with colleagues to address sanitation-related issues and promote a culture of cleanliness and food safety awareness.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements in sanitation procedures. Participate in training sessions and continuous learning opportunities to stay updated on best practices in sanitation and hygiene.
- Flexibility to work overtime and non-standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in food safety or sanitation preferred.
- Previous experience in sanitation, preferably in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation best practices.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
- Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.
- Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis.
