GENERAL
- Work location: Vina Robles Winery, Paso Robles, CA
- Temporary through harvest, full-time, non-exempt position
- Available to work extra hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed
- The harvest lab/cellar technician reports to the assistant winemaker and/or cellar master
1. TECHNICAL TASKS – WINERY
- Assisting Vina Robles winemaking team in all aspects of harvest and wine production
- Performing winery lab analysis (Brix, Temp., Phenolics, TA, pH, S02, Residual Sugar, Malic Acids, Alc etc.)
- Operating and maintaining lab and lab equipment
- Performing lab bench trials
- Pull winery samples for analysis
- Keep lab and work areas clean and organized
- Assuming responsibility for winemaking work involving the crush and vinification process (including must & wine transfers, barrel work, draining, pressing, shoveling, cleaning, etc.)
- Operating and maintaining winery equipment (crushing equipment, press, pumps, forklift, barrel washer, minor plumbing, etc.)
- Completing all jobs according to Vina Robles’ QC standards
- Operate in a safe and cooperative team environment
- Additional duties and responsibilities as needed
2. PLANNING & ADMINISTATION
- Well-developed organizational skills, ability to communicate and work well with others
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating cellar and lab work to meet winemaking timeline
- Maintain accurate and up to date records
- Entering data into winery software or spreadsheets
- Assist in maintaining lab supplies and reagents
- Assist in coordinating cellar work with cellar master
- Recording of cellar work on work orders and/or work board
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- College level enology or chemistry coursework and/or prior winery experience
- Prior winery lab and production work preferred
- Reliable team player with strong attention to detail and quality winemaking
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Must be able work on your feet throughout the day and climb stairs
