Papich Construction/Sierra Pacific Materials has an immediate opening for a Weighmaster/Yard Worker for its location in Templeton, CA. This is a full-time position with benefits, Monday-Friday. Hours vary depending on the season but typically 6:45 am-3:45 pm; the earliest start time is 6 a.m. when required during summer months.
Position Summary
We are looking for someone who is a quick learner with a positive attitude, excellent work habits, and the ability to work well independently and with co-workers as a team in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for many facets of our front-end operations with their primary duties include, but not limited to, providing excellent customer service, weigh-in and -out of trucks, using our computerized weighing system to process and record tickets, and providing general office assistance. Additional responsibilities include perform administrative/clerical tasks in support of the site: create/update/maintain spreadsheets, process reports for site management, administer new hire onboarding (collect I9 documents, perform onsite drug testing, assist employees with downloading timekeeping app). Will alos be required to perform general labor: fill tack oil trucks and pots, keeping the yard and office clean and organized, loading/unloading vehicles, receiving and distributing deliveries, basic janitorial tasks such as emptying trash, cleaning bathroom, perform supply inventory, etc.
Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
- Instructs and directs customers to the appropriate area
- Operates an automated scale and related computer software program to determine charges and generate charge tickets
- Record weights, supplier information, truck identification, load number, source code, setting, size and species of log and scale type
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions
- Maintain computerized records of product amounts, truck identities and issuance of weigh certificates in compliance with county and state regulations
- Collects fees from customers
- Generate daily and weekly reports internally, documenting log flow
- Manage the flow of trucks
- Maintain accurate daily records of scale operations including, day-end computer reports, account for all scale tickets and distribution as required
- Answer phone and direct calls as appropriate
- Ensure the scales, computer system, phones and other necessary devices are in proper working condition
- Assist in interacting with County and State inspectors of Department of Weight and Measure
- Assist in coordinating repairs and maintenance to the scales
- Assist in monitoring scheduled inspections and complete scale reports
- Ensure all work areas, including scale house, office and yard are clean, tidy and organized at all tim
- Reconciles monies collected and maintains monthly accounts
- Assists and performs a variety of site clerical duties including bill prep, invoicing, inventory, etc.
- Load, unload and distribute deliveries manaully and using forklift
- Maintain site and office cleanliness and appearance
- Assist in completing site improvment projects
Desirable Qualifications
Do not apply if you do not have a consistent work history, reliable and punctual attendance and reliable transportation to/from work.
- High school diploma/GED
- At least 1 year of experience as a Weighmaster/Truck Scale Operator OR
- 2-5 years experience in a construction/civil engineering company
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record (2 points or less)
- Current forklift certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Must be computer software proficient including experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and Adobe PDF
- Will be trained on our scale ticketing system
- Strong mathematical skills, organizational skills, and acute attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with moderate noise levels
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and work on feet for long hours
- Must be willing to submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test. For safety reasons, we have a zero tolerance drug policy, including marijuana use.
This position is a full-time hourly position, eligible for overtime.
