About the Position:
We are looking for 3-4 dependable CNA/Caregivers (home care (CDASS) attendants) to assist a quadriplegic due to a spinal cord injury 5 years ago, with essential daily activities. This role requires someone who is patient, adaptable, and comfortable handling various situations with care. Attendants will work closely with the individual to promote their independence and well-being, ensuring seamless, high-quality care.
Flexible shifts are available, including weekend-only options, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking meaningful work that fits their schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with transfers (e.g., helping the member in and out of bed, wheelchair, and shower chair).
- Help with personal care, including dressing, showering, grooming, and hygiene.
- Maintain catheters (training will be provided if needed).
- Prepare meals and assist with set-up.
- Complete household chores (laundry, cleaning, floor care, organizing).
- Accompany the member to doctor’s appointments and on shopping trips.
- Provide medication reminders to ensure timely doses.
- Aid in wound care.
- Log hours accurately in the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system.
- Correct and resubmit timesheets promptly when needed to ensure timely approval.
- Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts to provide member with consistent punctual care.
- Approach daily care with patience and problem-solving skills, adapting to changing needs while maintaining a calm and supportive attitude.
- Maintain professional boundaries and foster respectful communication with the member and care team.
- Must have reliable transportation for timely attendance and errands.
- Aid member with doctor's instructed home exercises.
- Assist member with other tasks as needed (helping write, type, open packages).
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Comfortable with physical assistance (transferring and mobility tasks).
- Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to manage stressful situations calmly and effectively.
- Reliable and detail-oriented, with the ability to log hours in real time using EVV.
- Experience with catheter care, hoyer lift, or willingness to learn.
- Previous caregiving experience is a requirement, certified license preferred.
- Manage your tasks in a timely manner.
- Must have reliable transportation for timely attendance and errands.
