EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Completion of ninth grade or equivalent.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
SUMMARY
Performs general cleaning duties on a daily scheduled basis, at assigned MARTA rail stations and surrounding grounds. Maintains the cleanliness of the Rail Station between heavy cleaning cycles. This position involves exposure to all weather conditions and industrial cleaning products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cleans and maintains the rail station floors and walkways using walk-behind self-propelled scrubbers, walk-behind sweepers, wet/dry vacuums, and leaf blowers.
2. Removes spill spots and gum from the rail station floors using cleaning solutions and scrapers.
3. Cleans stainless steel fixtures, escalators, walls, glass, signs, faregates, telephones, and map cases, using stepladders for access when necessary.
4. Routinely washes down rail station steps using mops and scrub brushes.
5. Shovels and removes snow during inclement weather. Places sand and salt when ice appears in rail station and surrounding grounds.
6. Removes all litter from Station interiors, entrances, and surrounding grounds, such as shrubbery and flowerbeds.
7. Empties trash weighing up to 50 pounds from containers.
8. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
1. Accesses elevated surfaces such as escalator sides and high walls.
2. Walks on concrete and other floor surfaces that may be slippery or uneven.
3. Performs duties outside in all weather conditions.
4. Exposure to industrial cleaning agents.
