Position Overview:
Performs a variety of general and specialized housekeeping duties incorporating the Department's 8 step Cleaning Procedures with other Medical Center Department procedures, pertaining to environmental services, in order to provide a clean, safe sanitary environment throughout all patient, public staff areas Eden Medical Center and Laurel Grove Hospital, including restricted/isolation rooms, and special care units such as Neonatal, Infant, Pediatric, Adult and Geriatrics.
Job Description:
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Follows established Medical Center-Hospital Wide Policies and Procedures, including the Illness and Injury Prevention Program, Safety, Infection Control Policies and Procedures.

Demonstrates proficiency in Skills Assessment criteria.

Gathers/transports/removes by various carts to be pushed/pulled/lifted all trash, soiled linen (from specific areas), infectious waste, used sharps containers, boxes and other items of discard from assigned areas to central collection sites.

Dusts and wet cleans with approved germicidal solution or other chemicals designed for the specific tasks: furniture, beds, tables, bassinets, cribs, cabinets, chairs, sofas, fixtures, floor, surfaces, walls, doors, windows, ceilings, glass, baseboards, IV pole, kick buckets, gurneys, stretcher, wheelchairs, and other specific items designated Environmental responsibility.

Dusts mops, wet mops hard surface floors using approved germicidal solution or other chemical designed for the specific task in patient rooms, treatment rooms, patient/public/staff restrooms, public lobbies, locker rooms, cafeterias, vending rooms, surgery rooms, delivery rooms, offices, and other areas of hospital under the responsibility of Environmental Services.

Operates/pushes/pulls mechanical equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, floor buffers, carpet extractors, carpet shampooers, box baler, trash compactors, lifts, fans, steamers, upholstery machines and other similar equipment.

Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms, trauma rooms, cath labs, delivery rooms, nurseries, labor/delivery rooms, C-section rooms, surgery rooms, recovery rooms and all other areas of facility as assigned.

Vacuums, buffs, strips, waxes, scrubs, shampoos and extracts floor coverings.

Cleans fixtures, tops of windows, doorframes, vents, ceiling grid work and vents and other fixtures utilizing a ladder if necessary. Takes down, re-hangs, washes dividers curtains, blinds and drapes and shades. Washes mops, rags, pads and curtains using automatic washer and dryer.

Moves, removes, relocate furniture, equipment, furnishings, large items in and out of storage/throughout facility requiring pushing, pulling, lifting. Sets up, takes down, moves conference center tables and chairs. Moves sliding walls.

Delivers, picks up, stores, cleans, instructs use of audio visual equipment, easels, mats, chalk, portable screens and other related items.

Maintains required records, reports, logs, work sheet and statistics as directed.

Participates in educational programs, in services, training discussion, departmental committees and task forces.

Performs functions of Housekeeper II and other related duties as requested. Carries pager as requested/needed and responds to request. Is subject to overhead pages for requests.

Responds to Code Red, Code Green, Disaster Codes, Code Yellow and Code pink as needed.

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

1-year prev. hospital housekeeping experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Ability to read/write/follow oral and written English instructions.

OSHA Risk Category I (High Risk)

Pay Range is $29.83 to $33.43 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
