The Department of Facilities & Fleet Management’s, Buildings and Grounds Division, is a fast-paced, dynamic operation filled with passionate, skilled individuals. Help us maintain the cleanliness of the interior and exterior beauty of County facilities by performing skilled custodial tasks all while providing excellent customer service to County residents and employees.
About This Role:
This position is a part-time evening position, with benefits. The schedule is Monday thru Friday 6pm - 10:30pm. In this role, you will perform routine custodial work in the care and cleaning of al County buildings; and semi-skilled custodial and heavy manual labor. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, chemicals, and equipment; some knowledge of safety and effective use of chemicals; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions and the willingness and ability to get along well with others in a team environment.
Your duties will include the following:
- Vacuuming carpet
- Sweeping and damp and dust mopping tile floors
- Stripping and waxing tile floors
- Operating carpet shampooers and light automotive equipment
- Operating vacuum, vacuuming carpets and cleaning upholstered furniture
- Closing and locking buildings after late meetings
- Loading and unloading cleaning and polishing equipment and materials to be transported by truck
- Preparing quantities of cleaning and polishing materials appropriate for use from bulk containers
- Washing windows, walls, woodwork, and venetian blinds
- Tending to surrounding walks and grounds, including cutting grass, trimming shrubbery, shoveling snow and related work
- Moving furniture and files and performing related work as required
- Preparing supply and inspection reports, daily checklists and problem report lists
- Dusting and/or polishing chairs, tables, shelves and other furniture or equipment
- Gathering and disposing of refuse.
Minimum Requirements: 8th grade education and 0-12 months of related experience.
Preferences: A. Expert knowledge of/experience with floor maintenance techniques, to include equipment used in the process. (Floor Scrubbers and buffers as well as extraction machines).
B. Practical experience using a chemical dispensing system.
C. Expert knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
D. Basic computer skills to compete training helpful, but not required.
Special Requirements:
- Must pass a pre-employment physical exam.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Background Checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History checks, Education Verification Checks, License Verification Checks, and/or Finger printing may be required (Effective January 3, 2013) as posted in the job advertisement.
Work Schedule: 20 hours per week – 4:00pm to 8:30pm, Monday through Friday.
