Job Description:
The Custodial 2 position requires performing routine manual tasks in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and the overall appearance of all buildings. The position also requires setting up for meetings, special events, delivering supplies, surplus equipment, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
60%- Work alone as a custodian and/or on a crew as necessary to perform many varied tasks related to the upkeep of the campus buildings and the Bengal Village Apartment Complex. Examples of work include vacuuming, scrubbing, shampooing carpet, pressure washing, dusting, bathroom cleaning, disposal of trash, cleaning windows, etc. Serve on specialized floor maintenance crew where work Involves the principle responsibility of stripping, waxing & buffing floors by using industrial grade machinery. Preform all custodial related duties required to maintain cleanliness & sanitary condition
30%- Serve on a specialized moving and set-up crew where the principle responsibility include moving various items such as furniture, supplies, surplus items, etc., from one given area on campus to another and off campus as well. Setting up for on campus meetings, commencement, outdoor functions. Also setting up for events when external community groups utilize the campus facilities. Examples of work include setting up & removing tables, chairs, tents, stages, fans, banners, trash cans, etc.
10%- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or food service work.
NOTE:
May be required to demonstrate physical ability to perform manual work.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 70. This position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure. Physical ability to perform manual work. Must be capable of walking around the assigned area. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs multiple times daily and stand for extended period of time. Be capable of stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must be capable of moving furniture/objects that weigh at least 20 lbs. and transport cleaning carts and various equipment to different parts of the building.
