Position Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of our manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for ensuring that all work areas, including production floors, offices, restrooms, and common areas, are kept clean and orderly. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and able to follow established safety protocols to ensure a clean and hazard-free environment for all employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- General Cleaning: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in production areas, offices, restrooms, and common areas. Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure waste is disposed of properly.
- Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels, and report any maintenance issues.
- Surface Cleaning: Dust and wipe down surfaces, including workstations, equipment, and furniture, to ensure a clean and dust-free environment.
- Equipment Cleaning: Use appropriate cleaning tools and chemicals to clean manufacturing equipment and machinery as required, following safety and operational guidelines.
- Spill Response: Promptly clean up spills or other hazards to ensure a safe work environment. Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
- Supply Management: Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished. Ensure cleaning tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Compliance with Safety Standards: Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Support for Special Projects: Assist with setting up for company events, meetings, and other activities as needed. Provide additional support during plant shutdowns or deep cleaning initiatives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance staff and plant employees to ensure that all areas meet cleanliness and safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: A basic educational background is required for understanding instructions and safety protocols.
- Previous Custodial Experience: Experience in a custodial or janitorial role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting, is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to notice areas that require cleaning or maintenance.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions.
- Safety-Conscious: A strong understanding of workplace safety practices and the ability to adhere to safety standards at all times.
- Dependability: Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Communication Skills: Basic verbal and written communication skills to report issues and follow instructions.
