Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides supervision and on-the-job training to all engineers in the absence of or in conjunction with managers
- Assures all work will be performed in a professional and timely manner
- Provides technical information and field support to hotel staff, provides costing for parts and projects as it pertains to trade
- Performs work that requires special skills of an electrician, carpenter, plumber, painter, mechanic and refrigeration mechanic
- Can be called upon to perform emergency duties at any hour
- Adheres to hotel and department policies.
- Uses tools safely and correctly
- Checks clipboard and assignment sheet daily for job assignments
- Communicates status of job assignments and maintenance requests to the supervisor in English
- Assists and provides guidance for co-workers, and can perform the functions of an Eng. Eng. II and I.
- Requisitions and follows-up on needed materials
- Responds to emergencies
- Responds to trouble calls when directed to do so by the supervisor
- Reviews and completes daily trouble call log when assigned to respond to trouble calls
- Assist guests with requests in English, and follows up to ensure completion and guest satisfaction
- Performs general maintenance duties including, but not limited to minor electrical, kitchen, laundry, carpentry repairs, pool cleaning and painting
- Responds to Meeting Room, Guest Room, Food & Beverage Outlet, Public Space, and Back of the house maintenance requests
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Reviews and complete daily complaint log
- Makes minor repairs to equipment brought to shop
- Can perform duties of phone dispatcher
- Performs minor set-ups for hotel functions
- Maintains and stock supplies and tools in storerooms on floors
- Uses tools safely and correctly
- Checks clipboard and daily assignment sheet for job assignments
- Completely familiar with Hotel Emergency procedures and able to respond quickly and accurately during an actual emergency, to notify all appropriate personnel
- Notifies immediate supervisors promptly and fully of all problems or unusual matters of significance
- Is polite, friendly, and helpful to the guests, management, and fellow employees
- Attends all appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions
- Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment, and work area
- Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards
- Complies with safety regulations and procedures
- Complies with hotel policies and rules
- Recycles whenever possible
- Remains current with hotel information and changes
- Complies with hotel uniform and grooming standards
- Must be fluent in English (read, write and speak)
- A strong mechanical background with hands on journey-level experience in at least two trades (i.e.; HVAC, plumbing, electrical or refrigeration) required
- This position requires bending, stooping, and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to respond to emergencies, if required.
- Must be flexible to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
- Must be customer-service orientated and have excellent hospitality skills
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma and courses in engineering/maintenance required
Experience:
- Must have at least two years maintenance experience
