Job Summary:
The School Janitor is responsible for providing cleaning, and maintenance support services to ensure a clean, sanitize, healthy, attractive, and safe environment for students, community and staff. Ensure a school facility that functions efficiently according to laws and regulations governing the hygiene and sanitation of schoolhouses.
Essential responsibilities:
Cleaning
- General cleaning of the school building and facilities (inside/outside building).
- Perform clean-up of conference rooms, classrooms and boardrooms after meetings.
- Clean, disinfect, and restock all restrooms in-site.
- Clean and disinfect each classroom and recreational area (playground).
- Report emergencies, or vandalism to supervisor, Facilities Manager or Facilities Director
- Sweep and mop properly all rooms and floors, in accordance to sanitation regulations and procedures.
- Empty every wastebasket and containers in the facility.
- Lift cartons, boxes weighing in excess of 50lbs
- Move furniture or equipment to assigned location, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Make sure that school is properly clean and disinfected before the school opens.
- Clean and disinfect stairways, knobs, chalkboards, windows, glasses, classroom furniture and equipment properly.
Other Responsibilities:
- Exceed and observe all safety, environmental, health, and fire laws and regulations and are applicable.
- Maintain a pleasant and cooperative attitude at all times with staff members, visitors, and students.
- Display professional and ethical behavior with all personnel, visitors and students at all times.
- Follow the organization’s standards and procedures for routine cleaning and disinfecting, waste handling, and use of products and hazardous material for sanitizing.
Key Qualifications – Required experience and education
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years minimum experience in related position, and knowledge in several areas of cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance.
- Bilingual English/ Spanish strongly preference.
Expected Work hours:
A maximum of 40 hours a week.
Hourly Range:
$17.15
Travel
Local and some out of area travel required.
