Custodian
Position Title: Custodian
Reports to: Primary Facilities Manager, Lead Pastor
Secondary Staff Parish Relations Committee
Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
Salary: Hourly Wages

First Church DeLand is seeking a full-time Custodian to join its staff. The Custodian is responsible the maintenance, care and upkeep of the Church and surrounding grounds and the setup of events and church services. The Custodian will work closely with the Pastor, Staff, and volunteer teams to help facilitate the mission of First Church DeLand, which is “To intentionally share Christ’s love and salvation as God directs.”
· Exhibit Christian character at all times in keeping with the Christian faith and expectations of the Church.
· Knowledge and skills for performing minor structural repair and minor paint repairs.
· Experience in refinishing floors and operating the buffer and waxing equipment.
· Ability to perform normal cleaning duties (dusting, sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming, etc.)
· Ability to lift chairs and carry tables for set up of meetings and events.
· Friendly and cooperative nature and ability to work well with total Church staff and congregation and willingness to do so.

These responsibilities are normally what is expected of a Church custodian and include BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following:
· Work under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager.
· Plan workload such that the Church and other associated buildings and Church grounds are neat and clean at all times.
· Set up for scheduled events and church services.
· Oversee general maintenance schedule
· Report on condition of buildings and grounds, equipment and vehicle to Facilities Manager/Pastor/Trustees.
· Advise the Pastor and Facilities Manager well in advance of planned absences.

- These specific duties include BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the five internally maintained buildings on our campus.
- Turn on appropriate air/heat units with enough lead time to adequately control temperature.
- Empty ALL wastepaper baskets as needed.
- Clean ALL bathrooms and check for supplies soon after events of heavy use. (Clean bathroom toilets, mirrors at least once a week, wipe off hand stains and grease around doors.)
- Clean baseboards, windowsills, tables, desks, etc. each week.
- Set up tables and chairs for meetings and events scheduled through Church office.
- Replace light bulbs as needed.
- Keep steps and front entrance doors with windows clean at all times.
- LOCK ALL EXIT DOORS and turn off lights after usage. Alarm at the end of days.
· Dispose of any trash left in pews.
· Vacuum sanctuary, chapel, and other rooms as needed minimum of once a week.
· Clean storage room as needed.
· Check and pick up and clean all rooms including tables and chairs.
· Remove stains in carpeting as necessary.
· Check at end of week to be sure Sanctuary is clean for Sunday.
· Dust terrazzo floors, wet mop when necessary; scrub and buff when needed.
· Clean stairs as needed and at least once a week.
· Dust and clean all rooms weekly.
· Straighten and clean all rooms, tables and chairs once a week.
· Clean off all tabletops.
· Wash windows, inside and out, and screens twice a year.
· Vacuum and sweep floors weekly
· Empty Trash weekly
· Dust and clean all rooms weekly.
· Keep entryway clean and presentable.
· Wash windows, inside and out, and screens twice a year.
· Pay close attention to Parlor Room. Vacuum as needed and dust regularly.
· Keep all bathrooms supplied regularly.
· Mop Gym floor at least once a week.
· Mop Kitchen floor weekly during school year. As needed during summer.
· Sweep entrances and keep entrance clear of cobwebs and stains.
· Clean windows of doors weekly.
· Pour Pine Sol and water in all drains weekly.
· Wet floor drain when mopping to prevent any odors.
· Leaf blow in front of doors before preschool day starts.
· Keep all bathrooms supplied regularly.
· Dust all terrazzo floors twice a week during school year.
· Vacuum weekly.
· Mop terrazzo floors at least once a week, scrub and buff when needed.
· Sweep entrances and keep entrance clear of cobwebs and stains.
· Clean windows of doors weekly.
· Pour Pine Sol and water in all drains weekly.
· Wet floor drain when mopping to prevent any odors.
· Leaf blow in front of doors before school day starts.
· Return lost articles to Church office.
· Lubricate motors, fans, etc., in all units as necessary.
· Change filters in air units monthly.
· Make minor repairs as needed and small painting repairs as necessary.
· Pick up grounds around Church once a week including sweeping sidewalks.
· Oversee and notify Facilities Manager of needed supplies in advance of running out.
· Check with Facilities Manager and coordinate with maintenance and service contractors as necessary.
· Assist in setting up for meetings as staff and calendar request.
Meet with Facilities Manager weekly to know schedule of all buildings and discuss additional needs of each week.
