The General Laborer at the port plays a crucial role in supporting various port operations. This position involves performing a range of physical tasks to assist with cargo handling, equipment maintenance, and overall port efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

Cargo Handling: Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo from ships, trucks, and other transport vehicles. Ensure the proper handling of goods and materials to prevent damage.
Equipment Operation: Operate basic port equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, following all safety protocols.
Maintenance and Cleaning: Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning work areas, maintaining equipment, and ensuring that all areas are clear of hazards.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols. Report any safety hazards or accidents immediately to the supervisor.
Inventory Management: Assist in the inventory management process by checking, counting, and recording cargo. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of inventory levels.
Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork and data entry related to cargo movements, equipment usage, and other operational activities.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other port personnel, including dockworkers, crane operators, and logistics staff, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
Ad Hoc Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or port management.

Qualifications:

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
