MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sort, wash, dry, press, and fold clothing and other textile items
- Remove stains from items using the appropriate procedures
- Perform minor sewing duties
- Keep an inventory of laundry detergents, chemicals and sewing kits
- Track maintenance and repairs on laundering equipment
- Ensure that the facility remains clean at all times
- Maintaining a high level of standards of quality in the distribution and cleaning of hotel linen and terry
- Assist in receiving hotel supplies.
- Wash and process the inventory of all hotel terries, bedspreads, pillow shams, and blankets
- Maintain a high level of quality control in the processing of hotel linen and terry.
- Assist with preparing linen for house attendants to ensure effective operations in all areas of the hotel
- Adhere to all fire safety and security procedures, including periodic lint checking according to standards set forth by The Palms Hotel
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in all linen, terries, and reserved linen inventory.
- Attend regular meetings with Housekeeping.
- Report immediately to the laundry supervisor any problem with laundry equipment.
- Comply with all hotel policies and standards operating procedures.
- Maintain the highest level of customer service and guest satisfaction according to the standards set forth by The Palms Hotel and Spa
- Ensure compliance with health and sanitation policies in all areas
- Adhere to all sustainability guidelines as per the Inspired by Nature Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Ability to operate a commercial washer extractor, ironer, dryers, and folders, along with various other laundry equipment
- Attention to detail and skilled organization
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural team environment
- Proficient in the English language (written and verbal), a second language is an asset
- Ability to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment
- Show genuine care for all co-workers and guest(s)
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
- Able to project in a professional manner at all times
Education/Certifications
- Ability to learn and follow directions
WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Most of the time is spent standing and walking. Must be able to lift moderate weight (10-20 pounds) without assistance.
Typically located in a comfortable area. There may be regular exposure to mild discomfort from factors such as dust, odors, extreme temperature, inclement weather, noise, or lights.
While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to walk, stand, and sit. The person will occasionally be required to climb and use their balance. Additionally, the team members will frequently be asked to use hands and arms carry and lift items. Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision and distance vision. While performing the duties of this job, the team member may experience temperature fluctuations and moderate to high levels of noise.
