JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, performs routine work cleaning and performing related tasks as assigned in and around City buildings and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED. Some experience in janitorial or related custodial work preferred.
- Requires a valid Florida driver license.
- Work involves moderate physical effort in the provision of cleaning services and facilities setup, sometimes during adverse conditions.
- Occasionally required to climb ladders of moderate height.
- Endures long periods of standing or walking, and occasional need to move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- · Performs general cleaning of building and grounds to include vacuuming, mopping, stripping and waxing floors, window washing, cleaning of restrooms, replenishing supplies, emptying trash, gathering recyclables, polishing and moving furniture. Picks up litter, sweeps walkways around City buildings and facilities. Follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Safely operates all vehicles and other job-related equipment. May perform light maintenance work including changing light bulbs, unclogging drains and toilets.
· Works with and assists other custodial workers with the setup of facilities for meetings, trainings, City events, etc. Regularly assigned to lock and unlock assigned buildings; will secure building when not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, reports any unauthorized occupants, and turns off lights.
· Assists others in the performance of City business and performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Will attend to emergencies when necessary. Exercises awareness of and compliance with Division, Departmental, and City Rules & Regulations; standard safety practices; and occupational hazards. Must meet schedule and attendance standards: regular hours, standby overtime, and callout overtime as required. Performs related Public Works duties as assigned.
