Position Summary
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the hospice facility and
main office. This position ensures that all areas are cleaned and maintained to meet the highest standards of hygiene
and infection control, providing comfort and safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
Position Qualifications
- Education and Training: Highschool graduate or GED equivalent, preferred.
- Experience: Previous sanitation/housekeeping experience required; in a healthcare or related setting is
preferred.
- License or Certification: Valid driver’s license or state ID card required.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
o Clean patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming,
windows, and sanitizing surfaces.
o Empty trash and medical waste receptacles, ensuring proper disposal according to facility guidelines.
o Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in patient rooms and restrooms.
o Assist with patient laundry duties and assist with restocking of linen at the house.
o Restock snack options in the family snack areas at the house.
o Sweep and/or use leaf blower to remove debris from the deck at the house and off the sidewalks at
both locations.
- Specialized Cleaning Tasks
o Follow infection control procedures to clean areas.
o Properly dispose of medical and non-medical waste according to established protocols.
o Clean and sanitize medical equipment and furniture as required.
o Perform cleaning of patient rooms after discharge or transfer.
o Clean and maintain office areas, including dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing desks, chairs, windows,
and common surfaces.
o Ensure office kitchen and break areas are clean and well-stocked.
o Maintain cleanliness of meeting rooms and restock supplies as needed.
o Report any maintenance or repair needs by completing the on line maintenance request form.
o Ensure cleaning supplies are stored safely and used according to safety guidelines.
o Work closely with nursing staff and other team members to coordinate cleaning schedules and
priorities.
o Communicate effectively with staff and patients to ensure cleaning needs are met without disrupting
patient care.
