At SCYM, we are all about culture & protocol. By culture we mean that we are one big team. Everyone needs to flow together like a well-oiled machine, everything is and always will be a team effort. Protocol is fully understanding the way we expect tasks to be completed. No job is less important than the next and no boat should get more attention than the other. We take pride in our work and keeping our clients happy with their boats staying immaculately maintained. Some of the daily tasks you will be performing include but are not limited to:
- Routine/maintenance washdowns o A protocol sheet will be given to you so you can read and understand our standards and processes on how to do a proper washdown
o If you notice any problem areas to be looked at further, it is your responsibility to take pictures and notify your detailing director and/or team lead so the proper action & instruction can be taken to correct it.
- Wet sanding, compounding, waxing
- Teak work o Sanding, 2 step and or brighten, seal
- Cleaning cushions & covers
- Interiors o This will mostly be handled by Megan, however you may get pulled to assist depending on the timeframe of the job
- Daily tasks such as keeping the detail office & work van clean. Keeping up with laundry such as washing microfibers or towels used, taking out trash, etc.
You will be trained in all these tasks and given the proper materials to complete each job flawlessly. If you ever notice we are running low on any supplies, please be sure to notify your detailing director so we can replenish any materials needed. As we know, a lot of this industry is situational and a very important part is not only being detail oriented but also knowing how to look at a task (teak, wax, etc) and understanding how to make the corrections to make those areas look like new again. If there is ever a time where you aren’t sure which steps to take (1) ALWAYS ask questions (2) try test spots to see what will work best per boat (3) NEVER guess. We are excited to bring you onto the team and look forward to seeing you flourish with our company!
