General Responsibilities:
Supervise, train and inspect the performance of assigned Guest Room Attendants and Floor Housepersons, ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel’s standards. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.
Qualifications (Essential):
- Prior experience as a Guest Room Attendant.
- Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations.
- Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests/visitors, management and co- workers to their understanding, both in person and by telephone.
- Ability to provide legible communication and directions.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment
Qualifications (Desired):
- High school graduate.
- Any supervisory experience.
- Previous guest relations training.
- Fluency in a second language, preferable Creole.
Skills:
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties.
- Ability to ensure security of guest room access and hotel.
Standard Requirements:

Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or guests regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns. Promotes positive public relations with guests and employees. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
Essential Functions: (Include the following. Other job related duties may be assigned.)
- Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations.
- Ensures the overall quality of the cleaning of guest rooms, corridors, and service areas based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise objectives. • Ensures all house and safety rules, housekeeping procedures, and security procedures are followed.
- Uses and ensures the use of correct personal protection equipment in accordance with the Blood Borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan when handling soiled linens or performing other tasks in which exposure to blood borne pathogens may occur.
- Follows through with guest room and floor maintenance.
- Ensures proper maintenance of all cleaning equipment.
- Attends all required meetings.
- Maintains inventory and supplies all closets on assigned floors.
- Communicates and cooperates with the Front Desk and other related departments during rush rooms, blocks, VIPs, and any discrepant rooms.
- Assists Executive Housekeeper or Assistant General Manager in maintaining overall smooth operation of the Housekeeping Department.
- Delegates the deep cleaning schedule.
- Inspects or delegates inspection of all guest rooms cleaned by room attendants on assigned floors.
- Initiates procedures to increase efficiency of labor and safe chemical and equipment use.
- Enforces standard procedures for the acceptance, security, and return of guest lost and found items.
- Works to ensure high scores for cleanliness and other housekeeping-related items on all Shaner and Franchise inspections.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervise employees in the Housekeeping Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
