Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented part-time Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of our Museum facilities and assist our Events Department with rental event logistics. This is an important role in ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitation

· Sweep, mop and vacuum floors as needed during regular operating hours in various areas of the Museum including exhibit halls, galleries, meeting rooms, classrooms, birthday party areas and children’s discovery area.

· Dust and wipe down surfaces including exhibit cases, displays, countertops, desks and other furniture.

· Empty trash and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.

· Maintain a high level of cleanliness in all Museum public areas.

· Assist event staff as needed with event set up and preparation.

Maintenance

· Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, batteries and repairing event equipment, displays etc.

· Report any major maintenance or repair needs to supervisor.

Safety and Security

· Identify and report any potential safety hazards or security issues within the facility.

· Follow safety procedures and guidelines for handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment.

General Duties

· Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.

· Assist the event team as needed with event set up and preparation for events and meetings.

Qualifications

· Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred

· Experience: Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred

· Skills and Abilities:

· Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting (up to 50lbs), bending and standing for extended periods.

· Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment

· Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions. Bi-lingual a plus.

· Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Working Conditions:

Part-Time schedule, typically Tue – Sat 11am-3pm (20-30hrs per week). Days/Hours may vary based on demand.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
