Maintenance/Janitorial Worker Job Responsibilities

Town & Country School is currently hiring for a Maintenance/Janitorial Position. This individual would work at one location taking care of a school building and a gymnasium. You will perform a variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep the buildings functioning at their best. To work well in this role, you should have basic maintenance knowledge around building repairs and some experience cleaning.

Maintenance/Janitorial Responsibilities:

General cleaning of the building and keeping it maintained and in good condition.
Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
Use a floor scrubber and a Chariot
Clean and stock restrooms.
Ensure doors are locked after hours.
Clean up spills with appropriate equipment.
Perform minor repairs.
Notify supervisors or managers of major repairs.
Collect and dispose of trash.
Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Keep cleaning supplies in stock.
Work with a contract cleaning service when necessary.
Move deliveries to their destination

Requirements:

Ability to manage your time efficiently.
Respond well to supervision.
Work well when supervisors are not present.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
Handle basic maintenance, building repairs, cleaning, and other janitorial work.
Basic math skills.
Able to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies.
High school diploma.
Able to use basic cleaning equipment.
Have experience using a floor scrubber or Chariot
Have good communication skills.
Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred.
Knowledge of commercial and industrial cleaning practices
Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects if necessary.
Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
