Job Description:

The Faculty-Student Association of Jefferson Community College is a not-for-profit organization established in 1969 to serve the needs of the campus community. The college campus, located in Watertown, NY, provides excellent facilities for its programs of study. Located on 90 acres near the intersection of Interstate 81 and Coffeen Street (Exit 46), there are ten instructional and administrative buildings. We are seeking incumbents who would like to join our organization, as Cleaning Supervisor, to take care of our facilities by keeping our buildings in a clean and orderly condition.

This is routine and repetitive physical work involving the efficient and economical performance of building cleaning and related tasks. Perform a variety of cleaning tasks are performed according to a well-established procedure.

The goal is to keep our campus in a clean and orderly condition. This is a full time, 12 months at 40 hours per week position; hours are scheduled between 6:00 pm to 3:00 am; to be scheduled Monday thru Sunday. Health, Dental, Vision, Vacation and Retirement benefits available.

Requirements:

Required: High School Diploma or GED with five years cleaning experience. Must have previous three years of supervisory experience. Must be able to work night shift and weekends, if required. Strong knowledge of cleaning equipment. Must be organized and able to work independently and as a team. Must have reliable transportation. Candidate must have knowledge in operating a computer and be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

We are most interested in talking to applicants that have the following qualification:

· 5 years cleaning or comparable training or experience.

· 3 years previous supervisory experience required; 5 years preferred.

· Honest, trustworthy, focused with good personality.

· A good team leader and worker.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Verifiable work history with three solid references.

· Ensure assigned properties are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard.

· Assist in the training of all cleaning associates, ensuring that all associates have a complete understanding of the company policy, procedures and expectations.

· Efficiently maintain associate work schedules on a daily basis.

· Supervise cleaning associates, ensuring they meet with the highest standards of cleanliness.

· As necessary, function in cleaning associate role to ensure work is complete.

· Ensure all associates have sufficient cleaning supplies and the knowledge of how to safely use them.

· Set a constant example to all associates in dress and behavior, ensuring all associates are adhering to grooming and conduct standards.

· Evaluates employee performance, conduct on-the-job training and coaching when necessary, and initiate disciplinary action of associates when appropriate.

· Promote a safe and disciplined environment with adherence to company policy and procedures.

· Report incidents, procedure, or safety violations to management.

· Makes routine team visits and at times may interact with other college employees and students during jobs to assure that job specifications are met.

· Communicates special on-site job requirements.

· Assist in recruitment and selection of cleaning associates when required.

· Conduct safety meetings with employees prior to each job and assures that proper safety procedures are followed at the job site.

· Knowledge of common cleaning, disinfecting methods, materials and equipment.

· Skill in the use of cleaners and maintenance equipment (e.g. vacuum cleaner, carpet shampooer and floor buffer)

· Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions

· Ability to lift heavy objects and perform work requiring bending, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motion; ability to get along well with others.

· Willingness to perform routine cleaning and other physical tasks

· Willingness to be exposed to dirt, grease and grime.

· Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
