Position Summary
The Distribution Center Cleaner conducts the deep cleaning and upkeep of an assigned area in a distribution center. This person operates at the direction of a supervisor, either singly or as a member of a team. Safe operation in accordance with Company policies is of prime importance.
Essential Functions
- Cleans and maintains buildings/facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties on a variety of surfaces within the distribution center.

Notifies managers concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems

Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with DC Associates and leaders, co-workers, and vendors.

Complies with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company and regulatory authorities.

Cleaner must be flexible and willing to complete all tasks that are assigned.
Responsibilities-
Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.

Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

Sometimes using ladders or powered equipment, dusts and washes furniture, walls, machines, ceilings, equipment, and other surfaces

Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks

May remove stains from such surfaces as walls, floors, and equipment using chemicals and cleaning solutions.

Will be required to properly and safely use and mix cleaning chemicals per manufacturer and company standards.

Removes debris

Empty trash and cardboard containers and sweep floors

Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures

Cleans interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees

Sprays insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation

Must keep supply closet neat and orderly and maintain equipment in good working order

Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties

Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and possibly checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created

Operate various types of Equipment: floor scrubber, scissor-lift, tugger, cardboard baler and maintain all stations containing janitorial equipment

Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.

Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions with management oversight.

Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
-
Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
-
Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
-
Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
-
Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.

Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Drives vehicles (if required) to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners

Operates powered equipment (floor scrubber, scissor-lift, tugger)

Works at high heights or in tight spaces
-
Will work around powered equipment

May be expected to make basic repairs
-
Miscellaneous duties as assigned

The employee must be able to be on their feet most of the day and walk several miles each day.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Preferred Qualifications-
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required

Working Conditions-
Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces

Generally in an indoor setting; however, may participate in outside activities and events.

Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
