Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, perform any combination of light cleaning duties in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and appearance of our facility. Operate or tend washing machines to wash commercial, industrial, or household articles, such as cloth garments and blankets.
Brief Overview of Major Duties (please see below for full job description):
- Cleans garden and assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
- Empties wastebaskets and transports other trash and infectious waste to designated disposal areas.
- Sweeps, scrubs, and polishes floors using brooms and mops.
- Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
- Keeps storage areas and carts well stocked, clean, and organized.
- Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaners/soap.
- Sorts clothing and other articles, loads washing machines, and irons and folds dried items.
- Washes windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as needed.
- Observes precautions required to protect the residents’ property, and reports damage, theft, and found articles to supervisor.
- Reports building or equipment repairs to the maintenance department.
- Performs many varied housekeeping tasks related to the upkeep of the facility. Attends all meetings as required and assists other departments as needed.
- May need to operate/drive a golf cart for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Has knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations, and floor care.
Has ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.
Preferably has knowledge on using iPad. Training will be provided.
Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.
Education And Experience:
Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferably has one year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or other related work.
Licenses And Certifications:
Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or can apply for one within 20 days of hire.
If the above driving duties apply, has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.
Physical Requirements:
Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds.
May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
