Performs light- and heavy-duty cleaning in an assigned area or building complex and perform related work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Cleaning, sanitizing, and polishing bath, lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures
- Dusting, washing and sponge mopping
- Sanitizing and shampooing furniture, woodwork, walls, windows, and glass items
- Cleaning shades and covers on light fixtures
- Removing waste and debris from areas
- Sweeping, vacuuming, and shampooing carpet
- Stripping, waxing, and buffing tile floors
- Any other activity necessary to keep the building clean
Requires some knowledge of: methods, materials, and equipment used in light- and heavy-duty custodial work; custodial safety practices; and cleaning agents and related products and their possible reactions. May be required to possess valid driver’s license.
Must be able to:
Use sound judgment to deal effectively with problems. Adapt, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished.
Apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks. Use experience and skills to effectively manage conflict.
- Operate heavy-duty, high-speed vacuums, rug shampooers, strippers, and floor polishers.
- Perform minor maintenance of custodial equipment using small hand tools.
