Janitor supports the mission and work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization. They clean and maintain assigned areas and/or facilities, ensuring the well-being of participants in line with YMCA guidelines and association policies. Key responsibilities include maintaining a neat and orderly janitors' room, ensuring cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked, and performing minor repairs and maintenance. The Janitor must also know and review all emergency procedures, respond to emergency situations, and complete related reports as required. They must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time, and work in a recreational and/or educational environment with moderate to high noise levels. The Janitor must also be willing to step up to contribute to the overall success of the YMCA. The YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility are essential for this role. The Janitor must also be able to interact with staff, members, participants, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions, and the ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance. The Janitor must also complete annual safety, combating sexual-harassment, and child abuse prevention trainings assigned by human resources prior to direct service, and have current CPR and First Aid certification.
