Position Purpose
Assists in the coordination and execution of activities related to the cleaning and sanitizing of the facility and on-site equipment. Conducts all aspects of job duties in a safe and responsible manner.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensures that our products meet the company’s standards and specifications
- Complete, legible and accurate documentation
- Must understand and follow all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
- Food Safety and Quality Standard Requirements are being maintained daily
- Must understand and comply with the company Allergen, Food Defense and HACCP policies
- Must communicate with Supervision of any Food Safety and Equipment concerns
- Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the area worked
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
- Never abuse equipment
- Work with Supervision and maintenance to maintain equipment in good working condition
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Correct weighing and recording of any waste to be disposed of
- Follows all work instructions
- Perform all other work assigned duties as required by Supervision
- Keep work area and machinery clean
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary for task at hand
- Never use damaged pallets
- Must comply with all safety policies and procedures at all times
- Utilize all safety devices
- Report any unsafe work practices or injuries to your supervisor
- Required to maintain a safe and clean work environment
Responsibilities
To ensure the manufacturing plant is cleaned according to the company, FDA, QA and BRC requirements. To ensure employees are trained, and Master Sanitation Schedule is implemented. Works to maintain and improve on the quality, legality and safety of each product and the processes used in their manufacture. Responsible for keeping Facility work area clean and tidy at all times and reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a manager immediately. Assists Maintenance Manager in maintaining the facility and equipment in a safe and operational state of readiness at all times in order to meet daily production requirements.
- Plans, coordinates, monitors, directs and continually improves all aspects of the sanitation function
- Leads the sanitation group to meet its cleaning responsibilities within available time schedules
- Responsible for ensuring complete training of all employees for proper sanitation procedures, safety procedures, lockout-tag out, emergency evacuation, monitor employee GMP and HACCP programs to maintain company and all regulatory requirements
- Manages chemical usage and supply control programs for inventories, operational and cost efficiency
- Conducts full sanitation audits relating to procedures, quality, safety and tear downs for compliance
- Monitors equipment for routine maintenance/repair for GMP compliance
- Reviews performance, provides coaching & counseling, mentoring as needed to increase present performance
- Assures that the work force receives adequate training and supplemental review on the safe and effective use of equipment and supplies

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working with-in USDA/FDA facility
- Experience with processes such as HACCP, SSOP and GMP is required
- Computer skills-working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and e-mail system
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, generate enthusiasm and builds effective working relationships with employees at all levels
- Ability to train and coach
- Able to work various shifts and weekends, as required
- Able to communicate, make logical decisions and travel around the facility
- Must be able to assess that equipment is sanitized fully and properly
Required
Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred
- College degree or 7+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry, with a strong preference for the food industry
- 5+ years of supervisory/management experience
- English/Spanish bilingual capability, strongly preferred

Food Safety / Quality
- Report any issues regarding food safety or quality to supervision and / or quality assurance.
- Report any risks or any evidence of unsafe or out-of-specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials to a designated manager to enable the resolution of issues requiring immediate attention.
