Maintenance/Custodian would be responsible for working on a small team to maintain and clean all church facilities, rectory, grounds, and setting up and taking down equipment for events. We are a large, active, and vibrant parish with many events large and small. We are seeking someone to join our team with a good attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
Job includes but is not limited to:
- Set ups for church related events (large tables & chairs).
- Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
- Performs heavy cleaning duties.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
- Gathers and empties trash.
- Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
- Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
- Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
- Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs (Annually).
- Painting indoor and outdoor.
- Sprays weeds in parking lots.
- Share responsibilities in the security of the building.
- Any other work related duties assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
- Be courteous in relationship with staff, volunteers, parishioners, and the general public using the facilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, carry, pull, or push (maximum of 50 lbs) heavy objects or materials, climb ladders and work at particular heights, working in confined spaces.
- Stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Frequent squatting, kneeling, crawling, bending, reaching, shoveling, and twisting.
- Capable of handling cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, etc.
- Handle grounds equipment (backpack sprayer, blower, etc.)
- Must work around dust, chemicals, fumes, odors, dirt, grease/oil, and acid.
- Must work with equipment that vibrates when in use.
- Must be able to properly clean body spills, including blood, urine and vomit with respect to Blood Borne Pathogen Policies.
- Able to shovel snow for extended periods of time and handle snow removal equipment.
- Work with a team.

Job Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Experience preferred.
- Good physical condition.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Available to work Monday-Friday Day Hours
- Available to work overtime evenings and weekends for parish functions or other scheduled activities or in the event of emergencies or severe weather conditions.
- Maintain neat and clean appearance.
- Needs to be dependable, polite, and cooperative.
Part-Time.
Average 20-25 hours per week.
Salary based on skills and experience.
