Responsibilities:
Position Summary
The Environmental Services Technician level I isresponsible for executing the daily dutiesrequired to establish and maintain a safe, clean, healing environment. Responsible for ensuring daily room cleaning and timely room turnaround times related to patient through put within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The Environmental Services Technician, in accordance with organizationalstandards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and customer experience.
Essential Functions
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
- Responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms and ancillary areas, to include, but notlimited to, bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms as directed and any other areas that may require attention using designated and appropriate chemicals and cleaning procedures.
- Must have good working knowledge and be capable of accessing and using all department related technology systems, such as but not limited to, the Bed Management systems.
- Replenishes supplies as needed, remove bio-medical waste, trash and soiled linen as required daily and changes cubicle/window curtains as needed.
- Completes patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges/admissions and overall cleanliness standards utilizing the approved proceduresfor patient room cleaning to include Bed Managementsystems where applicable.
- Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge ofthe health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the healthcare environment for which tasked with servicing.
- Adheres to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
- Operates UV disinfection machine as needed.
- Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to, improve Customer Experience and cleanliness metrics.
- Follows all infection prevention practices including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
- Reports unsafe situations and turnsin Engineering Service Requestsforrepair.
- Ability to communicate, read, and write in standard English asthisisthe main businesslanguage.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
