Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Safety and Sanitation Specialist to join our team. This position provides assistance to the Food Safety and Sanitation Manager in achieving the food safety, quality and related documentation goals of the company. To perform this job sucessfully, an individual must be able to perform each essntial duty satisfactory. The responsibilites listed below are representative of the knowlege, skills and/or ability required.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing the Quality Assurance & Food Safety Programs and in keeping the facilities Food Safety Program/certification valid and up to date (SQF, FSMA, etc) including participation in HAACP team and safety committees.
- Coordinate scheduling of food safety training and conduct training classes.
- ·Walk facility a minimum of five times per week to observe and evaluate processes reporting any sanitation, quality issues or other concerns about GFSI standards to manager and department heads as needed. Conduct program audits as directed by manager. Follow up on corrective action plans to verify completion.
- Assist in keeping all Identity Preserve programs/certifications valid and up to date (Organic, Kosher, Etc).
- Must perform final records input /Document Control for all related documents: Glass Log, Preventative Maintenance Log, Sanitation Log, Pre-operational check sheets, Pest Control log, fumigation records, etc
- Must understand and keep up to date the Hold and Release Program, Approved Supplier Program, Customer Complaint Program, Recall Program, Business Continuity Program, Emergency Response Program along with Safety Manager, Internal Audits, Document Control Register, etc. and be confident in training any other employee in what is contained therein.
- Complete audit requests sent in by customers or potential customers in regards to food safety as requested.
- Collect and verify all paperwork that records daily production, calibration, sanitation, and pest control activities. Strive for paperless system implementation over the next 3 years.
- Conduct inspections and complete pre-operational check sheets daily for Packaging, Employee Hygiene, and others as deemed necessary by the Food Safety and Sanitation Manager.
- Coordinate and maintain the CAPA program.
- Organize and ensure completeness and accuracy of food safety system documents. Assist with maintenance of filing systems and documentation control.
Experience
- Proven experience in food safety, quality assurance, sanitation or a related field is required.
- Familiarity with HACCP principles and implementation is essential.
- Experience with data collection methods and analysis in a food production environment.
- Proficiency in using coordinate measuring machines and vision inspection systems is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining high standards of quality.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
