A Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks. Their duties include mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning surfaces with disinfectant and emptying trash cans or recycling bins. General Cleaning staff will directly report to the Area Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
Cleaners have the following responsibilities:
· Clean the interior of buildings including doors, floors, rugs, windows, and walls
· Disinfect commonly used items like exam tables, door handles, office furniture and grab rails
· Maintain cleaning inventory, notify Supervisor when cleaning inventory or chemical products are needed
· Empty trash and recycling bins
· Vacuum, sweep and mop floors
· Clean and maintain restrooms
· Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions
· Operate floor scrubbers, buffers and other floor equipment (as needed)
· Dust furniture and fixtures
· Other duties as assigned
Education, Training, & Certification
Education: At least a high school diploma or GED is required for this position, as well as some experience.
Experience: Cleaners will receive on-the-job training while working underneath a more experienced Cleaner for a brief period. Cleaner can also earn several certifications specific to different areas, such as biohazard cleaning.
Skills & Competencies
Qualified candidates need the following skills and qualities:
· Good communication skills
· Knowledge of various cleaning products and when to use them
· Ability to clean and disinfect various surfaces
· Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds
· Good organization skills
· Knowledge of safety guidelines when working with chemical cleaners
· Excellent time-management skills
