General Manager
Porter Special Utility District supplies water to approximately 26,388 people within its political boundary which currently consists of roughly 12,100 TCEQ-defined connections, plus 4 wholesale customers. Spanning 20 square miles, the District lies within Montgomery County and is adjacent to the metropolitan area of Northeast Harris County. Several highways transverse the District giving it a diverse mixture of residential and commercial developments that are rapidly growing. With a staff of 19 full-time employees and 1 part-time employee, the District operates and maintains 5 water wells, 4 elevated storage tanks, more than 600 fire hydrants, and roughly 135 miles of water mains to deliver more than 1 billion gallons of water annually to our customers.
The District is seeking the most qualified candidate for the position of General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and directing the District’s day-to-day activities, and for providing advice, information, and recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding present and future requirements for the continuous and efficient operation of the District through a constant evaluation of finances, policies, personnel, facilities, and equipment. The General Manager directly supervises a Management team consisting of an Operations Manager, Office Manager, and Finance Manager. The District is in a high growth area and the General Manager will be required to work with numerous area developers related to projects within the District as part of their regular duties. The General Manager will be required to maintain a high level of professionalism in dealing with the Board, employees, customers, developers, the District’s attorney, and District engineering team.
Minimum qualifications include TCEQ Class “B” Groundwater Operator License and 5 years of supervisory experience.
