REPORT TO: Head Building Custodian/ Facilties Director / Asst Superintendent for OperationsJOB MISSION: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas meat and clean at all times.2.Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.3.Shovels, operates snow blower and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.4.Checks daily to insure all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.5.Sweeps classrooms daily, and dusts furniture.6.Cleans corridors each day.7.Scrubs and disinfects toilet floors, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains daily.8.Washes windows inside and out, as needed.9.Keeps grounds free of rubbish.10.Performs such yard-keeping chores as mowing, shrub trimming and the like as necessary to maintain the school grounds.11.Makes minor building and equipment repairs as he/she is capable of.12.Remains on the premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the Principal.13.Reports immediately to the Head Custodian, how reports to the Principal, any damage to school property.14.Assumes responsibility for the opening and/or closing of the building and determining that all doors and windows are secured and that all non-essential lights and mechanical equipment are turned off.15.Moves furniture and equipment within the building for various activities as directed by the Principal.16.Complies with local laws for the storage and disposal of trash.17.Use equipment, tools, and materials normally associated with custodian work.18.Must be willing to work overtime in emergency situations and to cover special events.19.Such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full year positionSALARY RANGE: In accordance with the current Agreement between the Longmeadow Education Association (Unit H) and the Longmeadow School Committee.The following information is provided pursuant to ADA requirements.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NONEPHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical demands are a way of describing the physical activities that a job requires.Strength: Light-Heavy lifting, 60 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds.Key: Occasionally (O)Up to 1/3 of the timeFrequently (F)From 1/3 to 2/3 of the timeConstantly (C)2/3 of the time or moreStanding: (C)Sitting: (O)Walking: (C)Lifting: (F)Reaching(C) Extending the hand(s) and arm(s) in any directionHandling(C) Seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise work with hand(s)Fingering (F) Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers primarilyTalking (F)Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken wordHearing (C)Perceiving the nature of sounds by the airNear Acuity(C)Clarity of vision at 20 inches or lessFar Acuity (C)Clarity of vision at 20 feet or moreColor Vision (F)Ability to identify and distinguish colorsField of Vision(C) Observing an area that can be seen up and down or right and left when eyes are fixed on a given point.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Environmental conditions are a means of describing the physical surroundings of a worker in a specific job.
