Sandy Pines is seeking a dynamic and talented Patient Access Assistant and Record Custodian. This is full-time opportunity that offers 36-40 hours per week with full benefits, and day shift schedule.
Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center is a 149-bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is in beautiful South Florida, nestled beside Jonathan Dickinson State Park and just minutes away from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Patient Access Assistant and Records Custodian is a dual position which consist of verifying insurance, locating doctor that accepts Ins., Schedule appointments, send emails notification internally, update tracker, note in chart and notify guardian by email, and follow up after visit. The Records Custodian is to provide clerical support to the Health Information Management Department as required. Records Custodian will act on the behalf of the Health Information Director in their absence to retrieve documents for regulatory agencies.

Requirements:
High school graduate/GED, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred. Must have at least 1to 3 years of experience in related field of medical record.

Responsibilities:
- Correctly assembles medical records into established chart order upon discharge, as well as thinned records during patient stay.
- Accurately files loose reports in medical records in their proper places. Analyzes discharged records for required reports and signatures in a timely manner.
- Routes transcription accurately and in a timely manner. Processes mail according to approved protocol.
- Handles all requests by the public in a professional manner, whether via phone, email or in person.
- Schedule appt. for residents, send email notification internally, update tracker, note in chart and notify guardian by email; Verifying insurance.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Add copies of provider notes/labs/ER notes, fill out any new patient paperwork specific to specialist office, get meds and allergies from MAR, complete transport forms. Some specialty offices require all information to be faxed prior to day of appt.
