Job Purpose
The room conversion’s team will report to the Event Logistics Manager and be responsible for the set up and breakdown for various functions held within the DCPA’s event spaces. Conversion team members will work alongside the events management and facilities crews to ensure success for each event hosted in the spaces by executing the set ups of each space according to floorplan diagrams, and will also oversee that equipment is safely broken down and properly stored at the end of each function.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Read and execute a floorplan diagram with equipment including: tables, chairs, dance floor, stages, trashcans, portable bars, coat racks, and other non – technical equipment
- Be able to perform all aspects of the set up and break down which could include: connecting and laying out dance floor, rolling tables, moving and setting stage risers, stacking and unstacking chairs, and more.
- Must be able to understand and follow all safety guidelines for best practices on handling techniques, proper lifting and moving, and operation of equipment
- Understand and follow proper procedure for inspecting materials and equipment, and being able to elevate any concerns through the appropriate avenues for maintenance follow ups
- Take ownership of materials to ensure they are handled according to best practices and stored both orderly and securely in their respective locations
- Routine (non skilled) maintenance and care for assigned equipment which could include: vacuuming carpeted stage before break down, scheduled time to polish dance floor tiles, annual chair cleaning and detailing, and more
- Have a full understanding of the event schedule and be able to pro-actively anticipate storage issues and prioritize equipment storage and access ability
Job Qualifications
Knowledge and ability
- Ability to work a varied schedule to include early AM hours, nights, weekends and holidays as determined by the events schedule
- Ability to read and understand instructions in English
- Ability to interpret technical floorplans and diagrams
- Ability to understand and follow best safety practices
Experience
- Familiarity with event set up and reading floorplans preferred
- Catering, special events services, stewarding, or stage hand experience preferred
Work environment
- The work is primarily performed in one 166,000 square foot building including spaces in theaters, ballrooms, loading docks and storage rooms
- May be exposed to heights up to 50 feet
- Requires working around groups of various people with differing functions and roles
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, walk, stand and hear, and communicate. The work requires routine bending and carrying of items weighing up to fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift. May need to work in aerial lifts at height up to 50 feet.
Compensation
$18.29 hourly
