Position Title: Housekeeper
Exemption: Non-exempt

Reporting: Housekeeping Manager
Job Summary:
Responsible to maintain a clean and sanitary environment exercising initiative and independent judgment in prioritizing tasks. The housekeeper will strive to achieve and maintain a high standard of cleanliness employing safety procedures. This position is physically demanding and has substantial contact with all staff and Veterans. This position requires the housekeeper to be flexible and adaptable; it also requires tasks to be performed in the presence of distractions.
Responsibilities:
- General cleaning of all areas, rubbish removal, washing wall tiles, sweeping, wet mopping, stripping floors and waxing, buffing floors, vacuuming, dusting, wiping walls, moving furniture, window cleaning, snow removal, cleaning all appliances inside and out, cleaning bathrooms, maintaining individual equipment (vacuum cleaners, mops and buckets and cleaning bags).
- Housekeeper is expected to shift duties when fellow employees are absent.
- Work along outside vender for housekeeping services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- High School graduate or GED
- Working knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, methods and equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, stretch, push, reach, climb step stools and ladders
- Able to regularly lift and/or move 50 lbs. Occasionally will be required to lift 75lbs.
- Able to apply OSHA blood-borne pathogen standards for safe handling when exposed to human waste and bodily fluids.
- Ability to stand and/or walk 100 percent of shift.
- Visual acuity to perform job related functions.
