Position Summary:
The Utility Aide is responsible for washing and sanitizing all pots, pans, utensils, cutlery items and equipment. The Utility Aide performs all cleaning and sanitation duties in the kitchen areas, food preparation areas, walk-ins, employee breakroom and other areas as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Washes dishes, pots, and pans.
- May be assigned to duties in the employee's dining area.
- Performs daily and weekly sanitary programs.
- Keeps the dumpster area clean.
- Always follows safety regulations.
- Participates in-service training.
- Reports all hazardous conditions to the Chef.
- Reports all accidents/incidents to the Chef.
- Cleans worktables, meat blocks, refrigerator, freezers, etc.
- Sweeps and mops floors as directed.
- Carries soiled utensils, etc. to wash area.
- Returns clean utensils to proper storage areas.
- Washes and cleans utensils as directed.
- Takes out garbage to the dumpster and cardboard boxes to the recycling bin.
- Delivers food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas.
- Other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Chef.
- Follows and complies with health and safety departmental safe job procedures.
- Attends and participates in all in-service programs.
- Uses goodjudgment in determining the needs of Members and working with the different departments and in maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
- Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, policies and procedures regarding food service practices.
- Maintains confidentiality of Members’ PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records information as well.
- Other various duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least an 8th grade education. High School diploma or equivalent preferred. One (1) year experience as a utility aide preferred.
- Must be able to read, write and understand both verbal and written communication.
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must be empathetic, enthusiastic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
