We are looking for a responsible housekeeper/custodian to maintain our facilities. The internal appearance of our small private school and residence reflects on the quality of our service. It is important for a housekeeper/custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a housekeeper/custodian role focused on interior home/school upkeep. They will have sufficient physical endurance to cover a large space and a keen eye for detail and diligence.
Hours: 3p-7p or 3a-7a M-F preferred but negotiable.
The job includes cleaning 3 buildings (2 on main campus, 1 off-campus across town):
- A residential property (Angelus House) off the main campus but located in the same town (Bethlehem). The house is a residential treatment center for Adult Women. The cleaning responsibilities are for 1 living room, 1 sitting area, 1 group room, 2 bathrooms, 3 staff offices, multiple hallways and 3 staircases. (Residents clean their own bedrooms and bathrooms)
- ·Two School Building (The Arch Bridge School) on the main campus. The 1st school building has 6 bathrooms, 3 classrooms, 1 lunch room, and 1 gymnasium, with multiple hallways. The 2nd school building has 2 bathrooms, 8 offices, 1 conference room, 1 cubby room and 4 classrooms with hallways throughout.
Responsibilities
Maintaining a clean, healthy environment by:
- Taking out trash, tidying furniture and cleaning dusting surfaces
- Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
- Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap, toilet paper)
- Wipe mirrors and windows
- Report damages and/or repair needs to the Environmental Manager
- Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs etc.)-can discuss preference further in interview
- Provide coverage for other housekeeping staff during their personal leave time
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as housekeeper, custodian or in a similar role
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Happy pleasant demeanor and team oriented with the ability to accept constructive feedback
- Very good physical condition and strength
- High school diploma is preferred
