The Program Assistant: Registration will build awareness of food distributions in the community and encourage participation in food bank services as well as support various program services through general operations.
Registration and Mobile Food Distribution (80-85%)
- Attends mobile pantries to log existing clients and register new clients
- Packs and distributes food and/or provides traffic assistance at assigned mobile pantries
- Provides volunteer assistance at mobile pantries
- Provides registration, traffic, and food distribution assistance at child & family pantries or partner food pantry sites as needed
- Documents all activity through data collection and reporting systems
- Assists with data cleaning and documentation of TEFAP compliance
Outreach and Other Program Activities (15-20%)
- Conducts community outreach through placement of door hangers with information on local food distributions to assigned communities throughout Sarasota County
- Posts/removes signage in strategic locations before food distributions
- Delivers promotional materials and schedules to local organizations/partners
- Prepares all marketing materials in advance for scheduled community outreach
- Assists with packing and delivery of food boxes for multiple programs (i.e. backpacks/food insecurity screening)
- Utilizes designed survey tools to collect client feedback
- Assists with other program-related activities as needed
- Other duties as assigned according to role and mission
- Demonstrates empathy, respect, and understanding of community values and members
- Computer literacy and proficiency in technology and common software.
- Committed to serving vulnerable populations to end hunger in the community served by AFFB
- Acceptance of and commitment to AFFB’s values, vision, and mission
- At least one year experience in community work, non-profits, health care, or related field in Sarasota County
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds
- Ability to stand and work in heat for 3-4 hours at food distributions
- Bilingual required (Spanish preferred); Creole, Ukrainian, Portuguese
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Must show proof of valid auto insurance. Must meet underwriting requirements to drive fleet vehicles or personal vehicles for business purposes
