Position Purpose
Under supervision from the Residential Operations Custodial Supervisor, performs a wide variety of cleaning and unskilled building maintenance tasks which include heavy lifting activities inside and outside the College’s student residential facilities. These facilities include residence halls, affinity houses, and college-owned Greek houses. Maintains cleaning and bathroom supply inventories. Notes machine and furniture repair and replacement needs and completes appropriate work request forms and damage reports. Implements recycling procedures. Communicates effectively with students, answering questions about relevant Residential Operations policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to operate and maintain various machines and hand operated tools, such as vacuum cleaners and floor waxers.
- Knowledge of safe use of a variety of chemical substances used for cleaning purposes.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Ability to work from ladders to clean light fixtures (typically, an 8-foot step ladder).
- Ability to work in residential setting and to interact successfully on a daily basis with a culturally diverse student population.
- Must be willing to work mandatory overtime, as required.
- Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
