The Machine Operator will be responsible for the setup, operation, and basic maintenance of specialized equipment, including Multivac packaging machines and labeling systems. This role is critical to ensuring efficiency and quality in food production while complying with food safety regulations and company standards. The operator will work in a dynamic environment with a focus on precision, quality, and continuous improvement, ensuring that processes are run efficiently. Additionally, the operator works collaboratively with other teams to ensure products are produced in compliance with all standards and regulations
Main Responsibilities:
Multivac Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate Multivac machines for food packaging, ensuring the process is carried out according to production specifications.
- Adjust parameters such as vacuum, sealing, temperature, and cutting to ensure proper and defect-free packaging.
- Monitor machine performance, performing visual inspections and quality checks on packaged products.
Labeling Systems Operation:
- Set up and operate labeling machines for the accurate application of labels on packaged products.
- Ensure labels are correctly aligned, legible, and applied according to regulations and client specifications.
- Make adjustments to the labeling machine to resolve issues like misaligned, missing, or poorly applied labels.
Quality Control and Traceability:
- Verify that packaged and labeled products meet quality standards by conducting periodic checks to detect possible errors or defects.
- Maintain detailed records of production batches, ensuring traceability and compliance with food safety regulations.
Preventative Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform basic maintenance on Multivac, labeling machines, and other equipment including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
- Identify, diagnose, and report technical issues in the machines, collaborating with the maintenance team for timely repairs.
Food Safety and Compliance:
- Apply food safety regulations, hygiene practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) throughout the plating and packaging process.
- Implement cleaning and sanitation protocols for machines and work areas to prevent cross-contamination.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Record production data, including machine performance, downtime, waste, and any incidents during operation.
- Prepare quality and maintenance reports, as well as documentation needed for audits and internal controls.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Coordinate with other operators, supervisors, and quality control staff to ensure continuous production flow.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize machine handling and production efficiency.
- Be available to work in other areas of the process when required
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years previous experience as a Vacuum and Modify atmosphere Packaging machine operator, preferably in the food industry, medicines, cosmetics and other manufacturing.
- Technical knowledge in operating and adjusting packaging and labeling machines.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and standards (GMP).
- Ability to communicate, read and understand instructions in English and Spanish.
- Ability to understand instructions and parameter changes through digital control panel
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Ability to identify problems and make technical adjustments to maintain operational efficiency.
- Availability to work rotating shifts or flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Skills:
- Specific experience with Vacuum and Modify atmosphere Packaging machine, Multivac machines, labeling systems, metal detectors, air and gas systems, electrical sensors, and conveyors is a plus.
- Attention to detail and precision in machine operation.
- Strong problem-solving and quick decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
- Proactive attitude and focus on continuous improvement.
