Job Overview:
Under direction of the Administrator maintain a clean environment by performing sanitizing and disinfecting work throughout the facility, dining and common areas, restrooms, hallways, offices and meeting rooms. Additionally, housekeepers must work toward adhering to federal, state and local health codes and regulations to ensure a hygienic, safe and healthy environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs sanitizing and disinfecting work throughout the facility, dining area, common areas, restrooms, hallways, offices, meeting rooms, etc. *
- Performs general cleaning tasks such as but not limited to trash, recycling, dusting, wet wiping, glass cleaning, vacuuming, spotting, polishing and mopping. *
- Mix detergents and disinfectants and disinfect all floors and counters. *
- Adds and performs sections of "Detail Cleaning" such as wiping ceiling vents, high/low dusting, wiping furniture, edge vacuuming and baseboard cleaning. *
- Performs basic equipment care, checks for wear and damage on assigned equipment. *
- Performs light extraction carpet cleaning and scrubbing of safety flooring using automated equipment. *
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment. *
- Observes and inspects assigned areas for maintenance and security needs and reports needed repairs as soon as possible.
- Keeps paper and chemical supplies stored in work rooms neat and organized. Keeps Housekeeping cart clean and stocked.
- Replenish supplies in washrooms and bathrooms.
- Sweep all sidewalks around the facility to keep free of obstacles. Report any repairs needed.
- Clean and sweep Break room and Café.
- Follows the rules and intent of the regulations and safety guidelines.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

GENERAL EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Education — High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Experience — One-year related experience in hospital housekeeping. Demonstrated previous work experience at a facility licensed by the Department of Social Service California Community Care Licensing Program (CCL).
- Language Ability — Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating manuals and maintenance instructions. Ability to write simple memos, reports and letters. Ability to speak effectively with residents or other employees.
- Math Ability — Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability — Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and emergency situations.
- Computer Skills — To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and calendaring; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; and basic online browsing/usage.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have overall good health.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with applicable law and regulation.
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma, or G.E.D. One year in a housekeeping position for a health care facility setting required.
- License: A valid California driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a good driving record as documented by a DMV report.
- Knowledge and Skills: Ability to engage and communicate effectively with others; tact and diplomacy; exercise good judgment and act calmly in emergency situations; and an ability to work effectively with persons differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities and disabilities. Ability to follow directions and work within a program structure.
- Special Requirements: Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII, licensing regulations. This includes FBI and DOJ clearance. A health screening, by or under the direction of a physician must have been performed not more than one year prior to employment or within seven (7) days after employment. Health screening must include TB clearance not more than one year prior to employment or within seven (7) days after employment. Must have a current standard first aid card from an accredited institution. Must be physically able to assist residents and/or staff in the evacuation of program facility in emergency situations. Must be able to administer first aid in an emergency situation.
- Physical Requirements of Position: The following are required in day-to-day performance of the duties of this position: Walking, Sitting, Pinching and Finger Flexion, and Visual/Auditory Acuity are required constantly (over 2/3 of the workday); Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Bending, Stooping, Crouching, Kneeling and Twisting are required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday). Balancing, Climbing and Crawling are generally not required.
- Actual Experience Working in a Community Care Licensed Facility: Must be able to demonstrate previous work experience at a facility licensed by the Department of Social Service California Community Care Licensing Program (CCL).
