Environmental Services Technician (FULL TIME: DAYS)
BASIC FUNCTION:
Keep assigned areas clean, sanitary, and aseptic. Keeps work area and equipment neat and clean.
SHIFT DAYS/HOURS:
6:30am 3pm; 3pm 11:30pm; Days vary. Weekend, On Call, and Holiday hours may be required. Subject to change based on business necessity

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:
To reduce job hazards, this position is responsible for wearing PPE during job functions. PPE can include: gloves, gown/coat, shoe covers, head/face, eye and ear protection. Each job function requires a different level of PPE, individuals receive initial and annual training to identify the appropriate level of PPE required.
Subject to falls from ladders, back injury, slipping and/or falling on wet floors, minor injuries and infections, communicable diseases and exposure to disagreeable sights and odors.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Buffer, vacuum, carpet extractor, wet & dry vacuum, mop, cleaning cart, misc. cleaning solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Clean and stock work cart daily
2. Report unusual findings to the Supervisor
3. Report items needing repair to the Supervisor.
4. Exhibits good ergonomic use of cleaning and other supplies.
5. Mix all cleaning solutions according to the formula specified.
6. Respond to pager system in a timely and courteous fashion.
7. Utilizes supplies and equipment efficiently and cost effectively.
8. Clean and re-make a neat patient bed.
9. Dry and wet mop floors.
10. Ability to operate electrical equipment such as vacuums, stripper-scrubber, buffer and carpet extractor.
11. Properly dispose of all trash, including bio trash.
12. Completes and turns in daily checklist to manager
13. Thoroughly and completely cleans and disinfects all areas with attention to detail
14. Is knowledgeable about departmental processes/procedures and able to clean all areas of the hospital including but not limited to patient rooms, surgery, OB, ER, Laboratory, Family Practice and more.
15. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: Previous experience and use of common housecleaning devices is preferred.
Certificates, License, Registrations:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Be willing to accept new work methods as well as suggest changes and/or additions. Able to clean skillfully all assigned areas and complete tasks in a reasonable time. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
Physical: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
