Job Overview:
Gateway Center of Monterey County is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to join our team in providing support services to adults with developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives with dignity and independence within the community. Responsibilities:
The ICF Lead is under the direct supervision and guidance of the QIDP Administrator. The ICF Lead’s major responsibilities are to act as a conduit between Direct Support Professionals and the QIDP, the Resident & Staff Coordinator & Registered Nurse regarding the provision of direct services to the individuals supported in the facility. The ICF Lead is a member of the direct support professionals (DPS) and performs all DSP regular duties. In addition, the following specific duties are the responsibility of the ICF Lead.
· Serve as a member of the ID Team and provide direct input concerning individual ISP. Participate in consultant evaluations and provide input.
· Assist the Resident & Staff Coordinator in monitoring daily program schedules and active treatment.
· Monitor the administration, documentation and storage of medications.
· Review medication books, and monthly weights/vitals.
· Track and record Client information
· Monitor the completion of shift communication and paperwork by DSP.
· Knowledge of ISP objectives for all individuals supported and monitor that all staff are aware of specific objectives.
· Supervise and assist DSP as directed by the Resident & Staff Coordinator and ensure they are correctly implementing the ISP and following program schedules.
· Ensure the house cleaning responsibilities are followed through, and maintain duty logs.
· Attend appropriate internal meetings as directed by the Administrator and RN.
· Attend monthly staff meetings and in-services.
· Provide training to new DSP employees.
· Participate in licensing evaluations as needed.
· Coordinate with on call staff/maintain ratio compliance/employee break-times/meal-times/duty logs, and disciplinary protocols.
· Communicates with Resident & Staff Coordinator on all ICF protocols.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice
· Complete and pass a TB/covid-19 test and health screening exam
· Flu Shot and COVID -19 Vaccine
- Six months experience providing direct services to developmentally disabled persons
- CPR/First aid current
- Valid California drivers license
- Able to communicate efficiently and effectively verbally and in written form
- Good perception to human need and knowledge of incidental medical needs management, strong skills in promotion and maintaining good relationships with consumer families and general public
- Understanding of organizational philosophy and consumer-based values and rights
- Working knowledge of medications, behavior modification techniques, and an ability to train, direct, and work with others
- Excellent Organizational Skills
Education & Experience:
· Must be 18 years old or older
· Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent education
· Two-plus years' experience is usually preferred
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Physical, mental, and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
· Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions.
· Ability perform under stressful situations
· Ability to insure the safety and welfare of an individual with physical, medical or behavioral challenges
· Vision sufficient to read handwritten and printed materials, and the display screen of various office equipment and machines
· Hearing sufficient to communicate in person and hold telephone conversations in normal range (approximately 60 decibels)
· Physical agility to sit, stand, kneel, walk, push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, and to reach overhead
· Physical stamina sufficient to sustain light physical labor for up to 8 hours, sit and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
· Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment for sustained periods of time on hard flooring, climb slopes, stairs, ramps, and to respond to emergency situations. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
· On rare occasions may be required to lift a client, up to 200 pounds with assistance
