TITLE: Custodian/Janitor (Facility Technician)
HOURS: 2nd Shift - 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Summer Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent plus one year of experience in custodial or building maintenance work or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience substituting on a year-for-year basis.
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager or designee
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge of methods used in the cleaning of public buildings as well as the work standards and safety procedures in building custodial work. Facility Technician is a physically demanding position. The Facility Technician must demonstrate an ability to meet the reasonable demands of the position. Ability to perform custodial work safely, effectively and efficiently with a minimum of direct supervision and to follow instructions and learn procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers. Ability to conduct business in a professional manner, including but not limited to maintaining confidentiality and communicating in a respectful and professional manner.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUMMER CLEANING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Classrooms
- Lavatories & Lockers
- Clean halls, stairways & ramps
- Gym Area
- Kitchen Area
- Cafe
- General clean up of grounds.
- Make any moves of teachers’ rooms.
- Complete cleaning of the main office, student services, and superintendent’s office.
- Complete cleaning of the Library/Media Center.
SINGLE DAYS OFF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Spend extra time deep cleaning in rooms as needed.
- Any other special projects as requested by supervisor.
DURING VACATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete cleaning of all lavatories and locker rooms.
- Clean kitchen.
- Deep scrub and re-coat halls and cafe.
- Detail work in rooms.
- Extract traffic areas and problem rooms if time allows.
- Empties waste baskets and transports trash and waste to the disposal area.
- Sweeps, dry mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, using brooms, mops and burnishers.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and drapes using vacuum cleaners.
- Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
- Washes windows, door panels, sills, walls and woodwork.
- Cleans and sanitizes lavatories and washbasins, cleans mirrors and fills dispensers.
- Checks and locks doors. Checks building security and alarm system. Reports damages and acts of vandalism.
- Performs miscellaneous other assignments such as shoveling and sanding walks, moving furniture, setting up rooms for meetings and securing the building.
- Assists attendees at special functions.
- Performs work in a safe manner and observes all safety procedures. Uses all tools, equipment and materials responsibly and performs basic inspection of them prior to use.
- Maintains storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner in order to ensure the safety of students, staff and the public.
- May make deliveries, as required.
- Performs minor maintenance (replaces light bulbs, paints, minor repairs, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Empty rooms.
- Wash all furniture.
- Wash all walls, windows and doors.
- Extract carpet or strip and recoat tile floors.
- Replace furniture in room.
- Clean all walls, fixtures, stalls, glass and floors.
- Wash all doors, trim and glass.
- Strip and re-coat tile floors.
- Clean bleachers, walls, etc.
- Prepare and refinish the wood floor.
- Clean kitchen walls, floors, etc.
- Clean furniture, walls, doors, and glass.
- Strip and re-coat floor
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.79 - $27.29 per hour
