Senior Care House Assistant Position- We are looking for a highly capable and adaptable serial oriented individua. Here is some information about the position we have available. It's a private position Monday-Friday 11:00 am- 6:00 pm. Your schedule needs to be flexible as you would be on call in weekends in the event you are needed for a few hours. You may be asked to stay later on certain days if needed or come in earlier for appointments or if needed. We are looking for a highly capable and adaptable house assistant/ senior care giver.
You would be responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services to a senior and will be closely working with your manager and giving status reports daily. This is a busy, multi-faceted position which includes managing the household, managing the calendar of doctors appointments, self care appointments, laundry, cleaning and maintaining the household, medication management, recording vitals and creating meal plans and preparing each meal daily.
You will be tasked each day with ensuring the property is well organized, efficiently run and impeccably maintained. Candidate must sustain systems and procedures for daily, weekly and annual inspections by providing up-to-date systems, schedules, meal plans and shopping lists. Developing and maintaining strong relationships and communication with the daughter, manager and doctors will be essential to your position. This position is 5 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Build meaningful relationship with senior and his daughter and manager as you provide assistance with activities of daily living, attend to individual care needs and get to know their unique preferences and personalities
- Prepare each meal fresh daily
- Recording vitals in daily log
- Medication management
- Managing calendar; doctors appointments and follow up, self care appointments, grocery shopping etc
- Keeping the refrigerator clean and stocked with items based on nutritional plan
- Manage the shopping list for groceries and household items
- Grocery shopping
- Keeping a daily log of blood pressure, glucose and meals
- Blood pressure must be taken twice daily at a minimum
- Notify management of changes in condition and recommend adjustments in the level of care and service
- Assist client in life skills and other life enriching activities as indicated on their individual Service Plan
- Blends a variety of multi-sensory experiences weekly for senior (must be approved by manager in advance)
- Responsible for ensuring senior gets some light walking excercise daily
- Partners with manager to plan meals, food shopping and will be responsible to cook all meals for senior.
- Deep cleaning house every Monday, laundry and organizing food shopping items each Monday. A weekly schedule of items will be issued.
- Maintaining house cleanliness during the week
- Changing the bed linens 3x a week
- Helping care for clients dog and small cat
Qualifications:
- Dedication to and passion to serve seniors with excellent customer service skills
- Positive attitude, the flexibility to perform various duties in service to the senior and the ability to work in a team environment are keys to success
- High School diploma/GED accepted and may be required per state regulations
- must maintain certifications
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred
- Ability to make choices, decisions and act in the resident’s best interest with a sense of urgency
- CPR Certified
- HHA Certification
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and a level of understanding
- Competent in organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
- Must be fluent in Spanish and English
The right candidate should meet these requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and clear driving record
- own a vehicle to transport senior to appointments
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50lbs.
- Ability to work on holidays and during inclement weather
- Have basic understanding of how to use a computer/ smart phone for work communication
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
