Acceptable C.O.R.I. report as determined by the Superintendent.Preferred: Prior experience as a school custodian or the equivalent.Overview: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Forest Ave Elementary School. As a Night Shift Custodian, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the school is safe, clean, and well-maintained for our students and staff.Responsibilities: Participates in painting and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general mechanical areasReports broken windows or provides temporary covering as neededAssists with snow removal and ensures walkways are sandedParticipates in general cleaning and maintenance of the school buildingMoves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activitiesAssumes responsibility for the general security and fire safety of the buildingPerforms emergency repair or cleaning services as necessaryReports major repairs needed promptly to the Director of Facilities or PrincipalAssumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school dayKeeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand and requisitions replacements as neededPerforms other tasks within the scope of job assignment as directed by the Director of Facilities and Head CustodiaSweeps, mops, waxes, dusts, change light bulbsWashes windows, walls, floors, and furnishingsPicks up paper and other debris, empties and cleans trash receptaclesRearranges and moves furnishings, transports, and delivers educational suppliesOperates vacuums, floor machines, buffers, and carpet cleaning equipment in addition to any new equipment introduced to the facilityMaintains bathroom facilitiesOperates common and specialized cleaning equipment and toolsUnderstand and carries out both written and oral instructionsPerform heavy physical labor to include lifting, pulling, pushing, and working off laddersUse hand and small power tools to accomplish minor repairs and adjustmentsMaintain work schedules in the performance of cleaning tasksAdhere to safety standards and safe practices especially in the handling and use of chemicals and bloodborne pathogensMaintain cooperative and productive working relationships through the use of courtesy and tact when dealing with othersevidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily
